Over the course of the school year students are involved in a range of sporting and cultural events including:

Independence Day

In Term 3 the students’ studies are based around Papua New Guinea’s Independence.  This culminates in the Independence Day celebration that brings together the various cultural groups within PNG through Dance and Music

Cross Country

As part of our Term 3 PE program our students train for the school Cross Country.  Selected students represent the school at the Inter-school Cross Country which is usually held a few weeks after the school cross country.

Athletics

Similar to the Cross Country our students train in Term 2 for the School Athletics carnival and, if selected, for the Inter-school Athletics Carnival.
Our PE staff includes teachers who have competed in athletics at international level.

Swimming

The Swimming Carnival is a major focus of our first term.  The school swimming pool is important part of this development.  A highly qualified and nationally recognised teacher has over sight of the program.  Students who are successful at school level represent the school at the Inter-school carnival.

Learning Through The Arts – Musical / Concert

At Boroko East International School we believe that children’s learning is enhanced when they learn through the arts. The arts make learning relevant to our students who come from many diverse cultural backgrounds. We also believe that children are naturally involved in the arts from an early age as they sing, move, create, and communicate through their senses. Learning through the arts in the early years from Kindergarten to Grade 2 encourages students to explore themselves and their world through creative drama.

Book Week

The school celebrates the joy of reading during National Children's Book Week. To recognise this special observance, the teachers offer lessons to spark students' curiosity about the wonderful world of books. This includes activities that engages students in writing sequels to known stories (fairy tales, myths and legends, etc), buddy reading with students from Korobosea, and storytelling by our very own teachers. In the past we have even ran the celebration along the lines of a book character fashion parade with the school’s own ‘Paparazzis’!

Family Picnic

At Boroko East we believe in the development of ‘family’ as a key value in the school. In the past years at the beginning of the year we have hosted an evening of fun activities and games for students, parents and friends to take part in. A variety of food is sold by parents and a commercial organisation.

Universal Children’s Day

Universal Children’s Day is an annual celebration at the school. The school celebrates the day with an assembly of poems, power point presentation, songs, dances, a flag parade from around the world or fun sports for all.
