Homework

Our belief

Homework should:

  1. Support the learning that happens at school and in the classroom.

  2. Allow children to practice skills they have learned at school.

  3. Encourage children to take responsibility for some out-of-class learning.

  4. Encourage independent study and investigation.

  5. Help parents become engaged in the child's school learning.

  6. Make use of community resources.

  7. Be enjoyable and rewarding.

Actions

  1. Homework is an integral part of the educational process at Korobosea.

  2. As a general rule, primary students do homework on Monday through Thursday last up to 35 minutes per night. Middle school students may expect homework five to six nights a week last up to 60 minutes per night.

  3. Class teachers are left to their own discretion as to the most appropriate content of homework activities. However, the general purpose of homework is to reinforce the concepts taught at school.

  4. There is no place for 'busy work' to be set as Homework.

  5. Teachers need to be clear with parents and the child about the type of feedback the teacher will give about homework
