Assessments
and Evaluation
Our belief
Assessment and
Evaluation are an integral part of teaching and learning.
The main purpose of assessment and evaluation is to improve
learning. Both assessment and evaluation should be planned
into teaching. It is important that students are aware of
learning intentions and success factors so that they can be
involved in assessment and evaluation. At times assessment
and evaluation will happen at the end of teaching, however
it is also important that assessment and evaluation informs
teaching as it is happening.
Actions
-
The School Administrative Handbook has sections on
Standards and Assessment and Learning.
-
School data is collected according to the schedule in
the School Administrative Handbook.
-
Teachers are responsible for assessing, evaluating and
reporting the progress of every child in each IEA
Curriculum area each year. This assessment should be
recorded and evidence should be filed which supports the
assessment and evaluation.
-
All Students should have a STUDENT PORTFOLIO as
described in the School Administrative Handbook.
-
Middle School staff are required to also conform with
the requirements of the PNG Department of Education
Grade 8 Exam
-
Records of student progress should be readily available
at all time in the classroom.
